By 1997, Marty had published three books on beer and brewing, including the very popular "Beer For Dummies" and "Homebrewing For Dummies" , followed by a 2nd Edition of "HfD" in 2008.
Marty's expertise in beer evaluation has been gained at numerous local, regional and national homebrew competitions- including the Samuel Adams LongShot finals in Boston- but also at professional level competitions such as the Beverage Testing Institute- home of the World Beer Championships in Chicago and the Great American Beer Festival in Denver.
In 2009, Marty became a Cicerone® Certified Beer Server and he continues to teach beginner homebrewing and beer appreciation classes and tastings at various venues in the Chicago metro area.
